DONEGAL TD Joe McHugh has said that the Minister for Health has today received “first hand evidence” of the quality of services provided at Letterkenny General Hospital, and that the visit has given Minister Reilly a real sense of the hospital’s ambitions for service provision into the future.
Deputy McHugh has also welcomed Minister Reilly’s expression of support for conferral of Regional Hospital status on the hospital.
Speaking in Letterkenny General Hospital on Friday afternoon, Deputy McHugh said: ”Today the Minister for Health Dr James Reilly has received first hand evidence of the quality of services that are provided to patients at Letterkenny General Hospital.
“Minister Reilly received a massive Donegal welcome, and this afternoon he has commented to me about the courteousness and professionalism of hospital staff whom he met during his visit. Minister Reilly also had an opportunity to meet some patients of the hospital.
“Minister Reilly has seen for himself our hospital’s ambitions for expansion and improvement of services into the future. I facilitated a meeting in the Hospital today between Minister Reilly, Hospital Management, and Donegal Parents Diabetes Support Group, at which we discussed proposals for improving paediatric diabetic services in our area.
“This was a constructive meeting, and it was agreed that the Minister’s office and Hospital management will now work together on these ideas. I will continue to pursue this important issue.”
