Four Masters GAA News:
Jigsaw Talk: The club is hosting a talk on improving mental health for young adults in the Abbey Hotel on Thursday May 21st at 8pm. Maura Finnegan from Jigsaw Donegal will be doing a presentation on the night with questions afterwards. All club members are encouraged to attend.
Club Website: the club website (www.foumastersgaa.com) is back up and running again. There are several new sections added to the website including new videos, Scór, Health and Wellbeing, and Upcoing Events. Managers are asked to contact Pauric Harvey if they want their games and training times added to the events calendar. We also have a new photo sharing page for Flickr as well as our Instagram, TeamApp, Twitter, and Facebook pages.
Coaching Academy: the 2015 coaching academy for 4-7 year olds boys and girls continues every Saturday morning (11am to 12:30pm) in Tir Conaill Park with great numbers attending. Thanks goes to all the coaches, volunteers, parents, and players that helped out on Saturday last. All parents and children are asked to be in Tir Conaill for 10:45pm so coaching can start on time. New children and parents are always welcome to attend. Anyone that can help out at the academy any week should make contact with Pauric Harvey (0860523905) or Laurence Doherty (0877532705). Helpers are required each week for the car park, tea room, collecting money, coaching, setting up and clearing up afterwards. There will also be a weekly mini league for this group in the Summer which will take place on a weekday and consist of all games.
U8 Boys Football: well done to the U8 boys football teams who played their first blitz in Tir Conaill Park on Saturday morning. The boys played Ardara and Killybegs on the day with each team having two teams. The boys played some great football with a high skill level being on display. Special thanks goes to Sarah McHugh who ensured all teams, parents and coaches got refreshments at the academy and at the blitz.
U10 Boys Football: The U10’s play their first blitz of the year this Saturday in Tir Conaill Park.
Minors Boys Football: The minors drew Naomh Columba away (July 6th) and Naomh Conaill home (July 22nd) in the upcoming Championship.
Reserves: the Reserves team lost to Naomh Conaill yesterday 2-10 to 0-03 in Glenties. Losing 0-06 to 0-01 at half time, the lads started the second half very well but failed to put the scores on the board before late goals from Naomh Conaill extending the lead. Best performers on the day were Jason Daignean, Shane Carr, Sean Meehan and Sean Martin.
Seniors: the senior men’s football team play Naomh Conaill this Saturday night in Glenties. Time to be announced.
Virtual Sod: the virtual sod fundraiser is ongoing in the club with lots of members signing up so far. The cost of the virtual sod is €20 with all people signed up receiving a certificate and their name going on a large wall display in Tir Conaill. Contact Eamonn Gorrell (08766740053) or Deborah Rose (0879869192) if you wish to support the club in this fundraiser. All money raised goes towards the ongoing pitch developments in Tir Conaill.
“Come Cook with Us” Fundraiser: Unfortunately due to the AVS presentations, Darkness into light and holy communions, it was decided to postpone last Friday nights fundraiser. Thank you to all who sold tickets, sponsored prizes, volunteered on the night, in particular our contestants; Martina Mc Menamin, Anne Reid, Odie Mc Bride, Davy Crawford, Barry monaghan , Dr Austin O Kennedy, Rene Brogan and Sharon Gillespie. Please reimburse the ticket price to anyone who bought tickets and let as many know as possible that this event is cancelled until further notice.
Pieta House Darkness into Light: well done all the organsiers of this fantastic event last Saturday morning. Also, thanks goes to club members that helped with stewarding and car parking at the event.
Donegal GAA: Hard luck to the Donegal Seniors Ladies and club player Kate Keaney who lost out in the Division 2 National League Final on Saturday to Armagh. Kate came on at half time for Donegal to play her first game since her injury. Well done to Thomas McGowan who helped Donegal U16’s defeat Fermanagh and Down in qualifers for the Buncrana Cup on Saturday in Tempo. Also, well done to Gareth Cleary and Aaron McCrea who helped Donegal U17’s defeat Down in the McGuigan Cup qualifers. Hard luck to Donegal U14 ladies football team who lost out by a point to Down in the Ulster Final, we have several players on this squad. Good luck to Jamie Crawford, Bryan Fegan, and Cian Hegarty who play in Owenbeg, Derry this Saturday in the Ulster U15 football blitz against teams from Derry, Tyrone and Down. Good luck to Karl Lacey and Paul Durcan who are involved with Donegal Senior this Sunday against Tyrone in the Championship. Also, good luck to Dylan Kennedy who is involved with the county minors. Throw ins for the games are 2:15pm and 4pm in MacCumhaill Park.
