The club will hold its third race of 2013 on Sunday when it stages the annual Easter Sunday 3K fun run. The race starts across from Benny Sweeney’s premises on Port Road at 11.30 am and finishes at the front gates of the LYIT after completing a loop of the Ballyraine circuit. Registration, which will cost five euro, will be taken at the Aura Leisure Centre from 10 am. Spot prizes and refreshments afterwards at the Aura.
Letterkenny AC coach, Teresa McDaid, has just returned from Poland where she was team manager of the Irish senior woman’s team which finished fifth in the world cross county championships. This was a great result for the Irish team – well done to Teresa and her athletes
Congratulations to Kieran Doherty who won the last of the Finn Valley 5K road race series on Sunday in a time of 15:35. He was followed by the Finn Valley pair of Mark Hoy (15:59) and James Speight (16:02). Other LAC runners among the field of 291 included Enda McBride (22nd in 18:14), Ben George (38th in 19:47), Irene McFadden (61st in 21:00), Declan McCallion (130th in 24:11), Tommy McHugh (186th in 27:57) and Jimmy Gildea (199th in 28:39).
The Donegal Athletics Board Grand Prix Road Series was launched on Wednesday night at the Aura Leisure Centre. The first of 47 races which have been confirmed for the upcoming road season is the North West 10K which takes place on Sunday, May 5th, with the last race being the Oral Memorial in Ards Forest Park on Saturday, September 28th.
There was no winner of the jackpot in the club’s weekly lotto draw on Saturday night. The numbers drawn were 15, 19, 21 and 24. The four match two winners who each win 20 euro were Connie Maguire, James McTaggat, Ciaran Scanlon and John and Bernie McGeehin. This weekend’s jackpot rises to 760 euro.
The club extends its sympathy to the Stewart family, Greenhill, Letterkenny and the Shields family, Oldtown, Letterkenny, on their recent bereavements.
