Sinn Fein has called on the HSE to clarify reasons for bed closures in Dungloe Community Hospital.
Speaking after concerns have been raised with her Cllr Marie There’s Gallagher said: “I have been contacted on numerous occasions regarding reports that the HSE are proposing to close 7 beds in Dungloe community hospital.
“I believe staff were made aware of these proposals at a meeting recently held in the hospital. These reports have raised serious concerns locally, and families with loved ones being cared for are very apprehensive of these proposals.”
The local councillor added: “The HSE have to clarify immediately what their plans are, two years ago beds were closed in the hospital, and locals and staff were assured that there would be no more bed closures.
“It is very sad to see such a fine facility and staffed by such dedicated individuals being attacked in this way.
“The HSE must immediately clarify their agenda, not one bed such be closed and not one service cut in our hospital.”
