Naomh Columba staged a late comeback to defeat Termon and claim the County division 2 title.
This result looked very unlikely with the Glenmen down by 4 points with time running out when the Termon goalkeeper misjudged the flight of the ball as it looped over him and into the back of the net to leave N Columba just a point behind and playing with a slight breeze in their favour and now carrying all the momentum.
It proves once again that the game is never over until the final whistle and with Columbas never say die attitude they just don’t know when they are beaten.
The first half was all about Termon’s Daire McDaid as the full forward scored 1-5 of his side’s 2-5 half time scoreline. The second half though the Glenmen got to task on the pacey full forward as he wasnt as big an inffluence and had to come deeper to collect the ball.
Aidan Sweeney hadn’t as much influence last night as in the semi final but came into the game a lot more in the second half.
Naomh Columba’s Stephen Jones started at corner forward and as the game progressed had a big influence on preceedings.
It was a great team performance by Naomh Columba but Ryan Gillespie got through a pile of work and would just edge the man of the match.
Final Score: Naomh Columba 4-5, Termon 2-8
