Creevy National School boys gaelic football team won the final of the Donegal Cumann na mBunscol Division II in Glenswilly on Monday.
They beat off the challenge of Kilmacrennan NS and Whitecastle NS in the three way county final blitz. In their first match they beat Whitecastle NS by a score of 4-4 to 3-2. In the second match, Kilmacrennan started well and scored 1-1 within 2 minutes.
However, the Creevy boys, showed great determination and spirit, led by Shane Gillespie and Michael McKenna in midfield, to edge ahead just after half time.
It went right down to the closing kick of the game, with Creevy holding on for a one point victory 1-6 to 2-2.
The final whistle brought scenes of delight and celebration for the supporters who had made the long journey. The Creevy boys returned home to huge celebrations with the pupils, staff and parents of the school to greet them on a historic day for Creevy National School.
