Michael, who has correctly predicted the weather on several occasions before, believes the cold snap is finally behind us and we can look forward to lengthy spells of sunshine over the next couple of months.

He told Donegal Daily ”We’re going to have good spells of weather over the next few months, we have finally shrugged of that cold snap, the weather since March has been terrible but I think we’re in for a good summer.

“In days gone by the old people would always say that if you have hailstones and extremely cold weather in May, that you’re in for a good summer of weather. The old people were never far wrong with their predictions and I’m hoping there right and we enjoy an extended good spell of sunshine.”

Michael, who studies the activity of birds and animals to predict the weather, has also noticed sheep heading towards the mountains which usually indicates that good weather is coming.

“I’ve noticed the sheep are heading towards the mountains again and that’s a good sign. When sheep head towards the hills it means that good weather is fast approaching.

“I do believe the cold snap is over and while there will be the occasional break in the weather, I think the only cold thing we will be getting will be ice cream to cool us down.” 226672_10150175486262859_7994189_n

Michael is a massive sports fan and is a keen supporter of both Finn Harps FC and the Donegal GAA team, and while he didn’t predict whether he felt Jim McGuinness and the boys would retain Sam, he does believe that they will reach the Ulster decider again and will face Cavan in the final.

“I remember Donegal playing Cavan about 50 years ago in MacCumhaill park and the late Charlie Gallagher stuck over a free from about 45 metres out with the last kick of the game.”

“I think Cavan will make it to the final again this year they performed well against Armagh in the last round and have had a great record in the U21 championships in recent years.”

“Hopefully though if we do meet we can make it three in a row and that would set us up nicely for retaining Sam.”
