BY BRENDA O’DONNELL, LIFFORD ATHLETIC CLUB: So here it is, the first day of 2013 and a Happy New Year to all.
With a New Year, it brings new beginnings and the best of intentions to do things differently over the next 12 months. For most, getting fit, losing weight and getting in shape will be well up the list of New Years Resolutions, while for others, it will be a case of trying to improve further on race times achieved in 2012.
What better way to start the year than with the Lifford AC New Year 3 Race Series starting on the 20th January. Whether you want to run, walk or jog, this series provides the ideal opportunity to start the New Year the way you mean it to go on.
Held at three different venues on accurately measured 5K courses, each race ensures the variety of a unique and different challenge every week.
You can also make it a family day out, with each race having a one mile loop added for juveniles with race categories from U9 upwards.
Points are accumulated at each of the three races, with prizes presented across a large range of categories at the final race in Lifford on Sunday, 10th February. A PRIZE FUND of over €1,000 and entry only €5 per race (€3 for juveniles) makes this a most attractive and affordable Series.
