Donegal are leading by 4 points at half-time in what has been a hugely defensive and physical battle with Laois in this Round 4 qualifier at Carrick-On-Shannon this afternoon.

Tensions have been frayed between both sets of players and management with Justin McNulty and Jim McGuinness squaring up to each other on the sideline.

There has also been a number of confrontations between the players on the pitch in what has been a hugely physical and niggy battle.

Laois have adopted a hugely defensive system allowing Donegal to have possession deep as they pack their defence tight making it extremely difficult for Donegal to break down.

Donegal took the lead through a score from a free from Colm McFadden after 12 minutes but Ross Munnelly replied with a fine score from play for Laois.

Excellent scores from David Walsh and Michael Murphy both from play extended Donegal’s lead before Colm McFadden added another free to put Donegal 3 to the good.

Patrick McBrearty added another score for Donegal just before the break to put them four ahead at the break.
