With the Cat.4. season coming to a close shortly, the Golfer of the Year leaders are into their final stretch and hotting up last week was the ever-consistant John Bradley [26] returning 24pts played over 11 holes. John claims a new putting technique [shown to him by Joe Coyle] has improved his chances tremendously!  Henry

In runner-up spot was one of the most improved Cat.4. players of the season, Victor Byrne [24] with 23pts. Victor has the highest number of top five finishes in his category and has two wins in the bag also.

Tuesday 6th saw the club Juveniles playing for Lady Captain Sandra Mc Monagle’s Lady Captain’s Prize and taking top honour was no stranger to the winners enclosure this year, Cian Harkin [19] returning a fantastic 43pts.

Cian’s back nine score of 22pts was helped by a birdie at 11th, which no doubt helped him to beat the runner-up, Tom Doherty [20] 42pts, when Tom had a double bogey at that same hole.

In third place, relegated by BOT, was Evan Mc Grory [23] with 42pts also.

All Juniors are reminded that outstanding prizes will be presented at the club on Sunday 25th August at 7pm.

There will be food and refreshments served and all juniors, whether prizewinners or not, are asked to attend.

Wed. 7th Open was dominated by cat.2. members and leading the way for the third time in as many weeks was John Doran Jnr. [11] who will be well sought after by the club’s team captains’ next season!  Henry 1

The in-form John Jnr. recorded a terrific two over gross 74, which included birdies at 4th, 13th and 18th, with the only “annoying” blemish on the card coming at the easy par 4 third hole where he recorded a double bogey six, but re-focused to shoot 24pts on back nine and an overall winning score of 45pts.

In runner-up spot was Ciaran Wiliamson [13] with 41pts which included a disappointing “blank” at 15th but Ciaran answered that with a birdie at 18th to pip third placed Paddy Mc Gowan [12] by just one point.

Friday 9th had the Barnhill club host the prestigious GUI Jimmy Bruen Cup final between two Northern golf clubs of Tandragee and Coalisland. Congratulations to the winners—Tandragee.
