Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Education, Charlie McConalogue TD, has extended his congratulations to the 56,000 students who received their Leaving Cert results today.
Deputy McConalogue commented: “Today is a momentous day for the 56,000 students that received their Leaving Cert results and I wish to congratulate each and every one of them on two years of hard work.
“To complete the Leaving Cert is a great achievement. This is the start of an exciting new chapter in their lives.
“There has been a welcome increase in the numbers choosing Project Maths and higher level maths. Since its introduction in 2010, Project Maths has showed promising results. There are greater numbers now also taking higher level maths, which is also encouraging.
“I also welcome the promising results for higher level Irish with greater weight being given to the Oral Irish exam.
“I would urge students who believe that they did not achieve sufficient points for their preferred course not to panic and to seek advice from their friends and families.
“There are always alternatives and options that can be considered when the final CAO offers are published next week.”
