BREAKING NEWS: The Emergency Department at Letterkenny Hospital is now accepting all GP referrals from their traditional catchment area, it has just been announced.
Just four weeks after the flood disaster at the hospital, staff and management had made an incredible turnaround to make this evening’s announcement.
“This stands down the final remaining elements of the diversion arrangements that were effected on the night of the flood on Friday 26 July,” said a delighted HSE spokeswoman.
“The repatriation of inpatients from Sligo Regional Hospital will continue over the coming days.
“Walk in patients are also being accepted to the ED in Letterkenny Hospital from all areas.
“We would like to stress that non-emergency patients should continue to contact their GP in the first instance,” she added.
