It’s a massive weekend in the ladies football calendar as the Intermediate and Senior Ladies finals take place this Sunday in a double header in Mc Cumhaill Park, Ballybofey.
Intermediate Final preview:
At 12 noon Aodh Ruadh take on Baile Na nGalloglach. With both teams being unbeaten so far in division two this year it is set to be an interesting battle.
The Ballyshannon girls have arrived into the final after defeating Cloughaneely in the Semi final. After a one point victory over the Falcarragh girls in the home game they had their work cut out for them in the return leg.
It was a bruising encounter with scores swapped throughout the first half. Mid way through the second half Aodh Ruadh grasped control of the game which led the way for a 5 point victory.
The final score was 1-11 to 1-05.
Milford faced Four Masters in their Semi Final. After a five point victory at home they headed to Donegal town knowing they also had a difficult task ahead.
It was a mixed first half where Milford were flying off the mark dominating the first 15 minutes only for Four Masters to fight back and dictate the second quarter leaving the Mulroy Bay girls trailing by 4 points at half time.
The second half started with score for score when a goal by Four Masters saw them take a commanding lead of 6 points with 15 mintues remaining.
Milford upped the intensity and showed great spirit to find the net three times and run out 4-14 to 4-08 winners.
Senior Final preview:
At 1.45pm the well seasoned and current County champions Termon face St.Eunan’s who are in their first final in 8 years.
Both teams have been showing good form this year and fully deserve their county final reward. Termon defeated Glenfin convincingly in the Semi final.
It was a very tough first half in Glenswilly and Glenfin were left ruing missed opportunities and the gap of 6 points at half time should have been smaller.
Termon came out in the second half with one thing on their mind and really put the game to bed within 10 mintues of the restart winning by 5-14 to 1-05.
St. Eunan’s travelled to Buncrana to take on Moville. It was a tight game with very little between the teams throughout.
It was end to end stuff in the first half with the Letterkenny girls trailing by a point at half time.
Some tremendous defending in the second half along with well taken points they ran out victorious on a score-line of 2-07 to 1-07.
It promises to be an exciting day of football.
Both games offer an unusual interest to the Loreto Community School Milford where teachers Donna Martin(Aodh Ruadh) and Gráinne McDaid(Termon) are both on opposing teams to some of their students.
Who knows, maybe the students can teach the teachers a lesson this weekend.
