The championship hopes of Gaoth Dobhair have been dealt a severe blow following the news that two of their star players Danny Curran and James Carroll are set to emigrate to Qatar in search of employment.  James Carroll

The two players were part of Jim McGuinness’s Donegal U21 side that won an Ulster title and reached the All-Ireland final against Dublin in 2010.

The duo are integral to Gaoth Dobhair and both have enjoyed stellar campaigns so far this season.

Their absence will come as a massive blow to the management staff as they try to prepare the team for a crunch quarter-final championship clash with Ardara in three weeks time.

Both men are qualified as teachers but have been unable to gain employment in Ireland, while the opportunities for recent graduates to teach abroad continues to grow.

Gaoth Dobhair will now to look to county stars Eamon and Neil McGee as well as county panelist Odhran Mac Niallais to help them reach the semi-final of the championship.
