DONEGAL is being hit by horrible weather this weekend – and it’s going to get wetter.
Forecasters are warning that an intensifying band of rain, currently over the north Irish Sea, will continue to move gradually westwards over the course overnight to affect much of northern Ulster and northeast Leinster by morning which will lead to poor driving conditions and the risk of local spot flooding.
“This persistent and at times heavy rain will push further west during tomorrow Saturday to affect the rest of Ulster, north Connacht and north Leinster and which may last for much of the day,” said Peter O’Donnell from IrishWeatherOnline.
“If will feel cold in the fresh north to northwest winds,” he said.
Up to 30mm of rain will fall over Donegal over the next 36 hours.
Met Eireann says however the weather will settle down early next week.
In the meantime a lot of wet and windy weather is here…and it’s going to feel very autumnal.
