The 2014 Sportshall Athletics Regional Championship took place in Deele College with a total of six schools participating for the chance to progress to the county finals on the 15th of January.
This competition gives first year students a great opportunity to display their athletic ability or for some students, experience this event for the first time.
Some of the events that students were faced with were; two, four and six lap races, Shot Putt, Standing Long Jump, Standing Triple Jump, Speed Bounce and Relays.
The schools participating in the competition included St Columbus, Stranolar, Loreto Convent, Letterkenny, Errigal College, Letterkenny, Deele College, Raphoe, Mulroy College, Milford and the Loreto Community School, Milford.
The competition between the schools was fierce as each athlete gave their best on the day.
The overall winners in the boys category was Deele College, Raphoe, who attained 174 points, with their closest rivals, Mulroy who got 109 points.
Both teams will now go forward to the Donegal County Finals next Wednesday in Dungloe.
In the girls section, Loreto, Milford took the title in a close contest with Loreto, Letterkenny, with just one point between them, 112-111.
The girls teams will join the boys next week in Dungloe.
Congratulations to the teams that progressed and well done to all participants, who all gave stellar performances on the day.
