Ferry from CarrickBoyle, Gaoth Dobhair is currently serving a 14 year sentence for child abuse.

Among the items to be destroyed are cameras, computers, DVDs, CDs and video tapes.

The items were seized during an investigation into Ferry on grounds of child sex abuse, production of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

He said his client suggested the gun could be donated to a local museum.

Solicitor Frank Dorrian representing one of Ferry’s victims said his client was anxious that no files on the case be destroyed.

He was assured this was not the case and that any material downloaded from items seized had been preserved by gardai .

Judge Paul Kelly consented to the destruction of 868 items and asked solicitor Patsy Gallagher to gather more information on the gun.
