CLG Baile na nGalloglach Club is hosting a ‘Healthy Club Day’ on Saturday the 1st of Febraury in the Public Health Centre.
The Milford club is aiming to place health and wellbeing at the heart of the community and people the club serves.
Promoting positive lifestyles and approaches to health, the innovative free event brings together a broad and varied array of service providers and specialists offering guidance, advice and even health checks to assist those in attendance enabling them to better take control of their health and wellbeing.
“We hear a lot about the problems facing Irish society today but we tend not to focus on the increasing number of the population keen to invest in their health,” explains Pat Curley Club Chairman. “We hope this event offers everyone in the community an opportunity to explore how they can do just that.”
While arranged by CLG BnaG and open to all club members, players, parents, and supporters, the organisers are keen to stress that a warm invitation is extended those all neighbouring GAA and sports clubs and members of the general public.
There will be information on a range of topics with practical health checks also available, including blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring by qualified nurses, weight/BMI checks with the local HSE Community Dietician who will also offer advice on diet and nutrition, with a physical therapist offering tips on the treatment of sports injuries and general information and advice on fitness.
