Dunfanaghy Golf Club Notes
The weather was not kind to golfers this weekend. And as a result the Ladies Alliance and the men’s inter club fixture away to Portnoo in the Gaeltacht League had to be cancelled on Saturday.
A number of golfers did brave the conditions and played on Saturday.
This match will possible be rescheduled in the next few weeks depending on the weather conditions.
Gerald or Andy will be in contact.
There was a great crowd on the course on Wednesday last. Well done to Robert and all the prize winners.

It was with great sadness that the Members of Dunfanaghy Golf Club and especially our Juvenile Members heard of the death of our Juvenile Member Finlay Marriott last Monday evening.
Finlay was an inspiration to us all last summer when he played many a good round of golf despite his illness, he even won a prize in the Captain’s Prize.
The Captains, Presidents, Committee and all the members extend sincere condolences to the Marriott and Wilson families at this sad time.
A large number of Juveniles turned out last week for the weekly Saturday morning competition which was won by Edward O Reilly with Max Roarty claiming the cadet prize.
Ben King once again claimed shot of the day with a great shot to the 14th.
Our Friday evenings in the clubhouse are going very well with a good crowd dropping into the clubhouse on Friday last.
There are free bites for everyone who comes to the club-house on Friday evenings. Be sure to bring your friends along from 4pm on-wards.
Also the stew has been a great addition to the food menu on each Saturday and Sunday. It will be in place for the foreseeable future.
It is great value at €6.00.
The committee are working on a number of ideas to upgrade our website and we hope to have these changes in place in the next few weeks.
We will keep you posted through the notes and by email.
We would appeal to all members to pay their membership as soon as possible.
This will enable our Hon.
Treasurer to plan the finances of the club for the year ahead. Mary is in the clubhouse Monday to Friday 9am to 12 mid-day.
Competitions this week:
From the 1st of February all balls landing on the fairway will have to be lift, clean and drop in the semi-rough until further notice.
This is to ensure the fairways are in excellent conditions for the summer months.
Wednesday 29th January: Open Single’s Stableford (Soup & Sandwiches)
Saturday 1st February: Open 4BBB competition
Sunday 2nd February: Gents club competition
Don’t forget there are prizes for nines and a prize for over 19 handicap in all singles competitions at the club.
