Ógra Fianna Fáil have launched their own campaign to discourage young people from participating in the drinking game NeckNominations. 
Donegal South West Ógra chairperson Ian Molloy has condemned the drinking game and has proposed an initiative which encourages teenagers to give blood rather than downing a pint of alcohol.
Molloy is a well known local referee and announced his intentions to stand in the upcoming local elections at the weekend.
He told Donegal Daily, “We are asking people to Save a life, and not to risk their own.
“We are encouraging young people to donate a pint of blood and save a person in need.
Since launching the campaign last night hundreds of people have shared the ” Don’t Neck a Pint, Donate a Pint” Slogan.

Neck Nominations have been attributed to the death of talented young hurler Jonny Byrne who after necking a toxic concoction as part of his Neck Nomination jumped into the River Barrow.
He got into complications due to strong currents and was dragged under and drowned.
His devastated family have appealed for those participating in the drinking game to stop it now before another life is tragically lost.
They have also called for legislation to be implemented in order to ban the game now.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny and other political figures across the country have condemned the crazy drinking game and have called on young people not to participate in the game.

They’ve also called on Facebook to prohibit the uploading of these videos on their page.
However, Facebook have so far refused to do so claiming they aren’t in breach of their rules and have no reason to remove them.
Videos of people necking a pint and then nominating those next to do it are still being uploaded daily on Facebook pages across the county as the craze continues.
