Inishowen Sinn Féin councillor Jack Murray has welcomed agreement from Donegal County Council to resurface Drung Corner near Quigley’s Point with high grip asphalt.
Cllr Murray had raised concerns about the safety of the corner due to the high number of accidents over the last year.
Cllr Murray said; “I am delighted that there is to be a new surface laid on the corner at Drung which will improve the grip on the dangerous bend.
“Local residents had raised concerns with me that accidents were occurring regularly at the bend before the petrol station in Drung.
“I then visited the sight with a local resident and a senior roads engineer to assess the safety of the bend.
Subsequently the hedges were trimmed back and the chevrons were made more visible. The engineer also agreed to look at the possibility of laying a new surface this year.
“I am delighted that it has now been agreed to resurface the road with high grip asphalt.
“I am hopeful that this will increase the safety of the road and help prevent future accidents.
