DONEGAL put on another solid performance today as they travelled to Galway in National League Division 2 and come home with two more points.
Colm McFadden hit a stunning goal as Donegal finished on 1-16 to 0-12.
Last week Christy Toye shone and this week it was the turn of Odhran MacNiallais and Dermot Brick Molloy to show they’re not just in this Jim McGuinness squad to make up the numbers.
Michael Murphy and McFadden were as solid – and as brilliant as ever – Murphy pointing some superb frees.
And Karl Lacey and Paddy McBrearty also put in very good displays for their county today. But it was the same across the pitch – goalkeeper Durcan finding his range today from kick-outs…with and against the wind and Kavanagh dominant in midfield (and hopefully not injured).
Leo McLoone and Martin McElhinney also put in great performances, the latter in particular.
Even sub Declan Walsh – on the pitch with just a few minutes to go – hit a point.
To be fair, Galway threw what they could at Donegal with Paul Conroy and Eoin Concannon showing the west could be awake again in the Championship this year.
Our nearest neighbours Derry – who stand in our way in that competition – are really bubbling up. They went to Killarney today and beat a good Kerry side by two points.
Cathal Mac Suibhne will have his in-depth view later this evening.
