Karl Lacey was named on the Hoganstand team of the week after his outstanding performance for Donegal against Galway on Sunday.

With every game Lacey continues to get fitter and stronger as Donegal fans hope he can recapture the form of 2012.

That form saw Lacey named Footballer of the year in 2012, in a season in which his contribution throughout was both consistent and outstanding.

Injury curtailed the impact of Lacey last season in what was a desperately disappointing campaign for Donegal after the success of 2012.

He struggled to reach full fitness and was helpless as Donegal lost their grip on the possession of both their Ulster and All-Ireland titles.

Lacey had a positive Dr McKenna Cup competition and has carried that encouraging early season form into the National League.

He was excellent on Sunday as Donegal dismantled Galway with ease winning on a comfortable scoreline of 1-16 to 0-12.

Next up for Lacey and Donegal is a rematch of last years Ulster Final as they welcome the men from the Farney County Monaghan to O’Donnell Park.
