ROSSES GIRL SAOIRSE BONNER WINS GOLD AT ULSTER CHAMPIONSHIPS

Well done to all our club athletes who travelled to Magherafelt att he weekend and bringing home a total of 12 Ulster medals.  Rosses AC Saoirse Bonner - winner of the u-13 shot putt  

There was gold for the U-16 Girls in the 4*200m Relay team.

Well done to the four girls on the team: Jessica Oglesby, Burtonport; Rebecca Greene, Dungloe; Saskia Boyle, Keadue agus Fodhla Nic Phaidín, Sraith na Corcra, Gaoth Dobhair.

There was also Gold for Keadue girl Saoirse Bonner in the U-14 Shot Putt with a throw of 8.90m.

Two medals for Patrick Marry with a silver in the U-12 High Jump with 1.20m – the same height as the winner and a bronze for Patrick in the Long Jump with 3.53m.

There was a bronze medal for Scoil Phádraig, Dore schoolgirl Leah Mc Garvey, daughter of Cormac and Roseleen in the U-12 Long Jump with a jump of 3.43m.

Bronze for Bridget Mc Dyer in the U-16 Shot Putt with a throw of 9.09m and bronze for Caoimhe Boyle in the U-15 High Jump with a jump of 1.40m.

Despite some recent setbacks Nicole Boyle produced great efforts to gain bronze medals in the u18 Long Jump and Triple Jump. Rosses AC - U16 Girls team gold meda winners in 4 by 200m Relay - Jessica Oglesby, Rebecca Greene, Saskia Boyle,  Fodhla Nic Phaidín

Other good performances from Gaoth Dobhair girl Fodhla Nic Phaidín who won her U-16 200m heat in a time of 29.11 secs and then improved her time in the final to 28.86 sec to finish 5th. Mia Mc Devitt had a fine 5th place in the U-13 High Jump with 1.25m.

5th place also for Thomas Marry who set a PB of 10.31m in the U-15 Shot Putt and Joe Sharkey threw 7.60m to finish 6th in the U-13 Shot Putt.

The second 5k race in the club Spring Series will take place this Sunday. Registration in Seaview Hotel from 12.15 pm with race/walk starting at 1 pm.

Race fee €5. Start and finish at Seaview Hotel.

Rosses AC are organising a Sportshall competition for 3rd and 4th classes in Ionad Spóirt na Rosann, RCS on Wednwsday 19th February at 11 am.

Events are: 1 Lap Race, Standing Long Jump, Vertical Jump, Chest Push, Speed Bounce and 4 by 1 Relay.

Fee is €1 per child and all primary schools in the Rosses, Gaoth Dobhair and Cloughaneely are invited.

There will be a Sportshall Athletics competition/trial in the Aura Leisure Centre, Letterkenny on Friday 21st February at 6:30pm to pick Donegal u-13 and u15 teams for the Ulster Sporthall Athletics Finals.

U-13 is for athletes born in 2001 and in Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec 2000. U-15 is for athletes born (Jan – Aug) 2000, 1999 and (Sept – Dec) 1998.

All athletes going to the trials in the Aura on Friday 21st are: Cillian Coyle, Michael Mc Fadden, Marc Walsh, Kyle Macadangdang, Liam Mc Fadden, Hugh Ferry, Shane Boyle, Nicholas Wherily, Jonathan Doherty, Caoimhe Boyle, Aoise Willoughby, Saoirse Bonner, Orlaith Winters, Rachel Gallagher, Katie Wallace, Jade Mc Millan, Ciara Diver, Nikea Mc Govern. U-15: Sarah Doherty, Rebecca Greene, Saskia Boyle, Riana Mc Bride, Fodhla Mc Fadden, Ailbhe O Donnell, Joey Donald, Ryan Boyle.

Thanks to Nicole Logan for the very informative core sessions and injury prevention held recently for adult and junior club members.

Note change of time for training for athletes born 2003 upwards in preparation for indoor championships upcoming in Magherafelt.

Training in Carrickfinn on Wednesdays at 4:30 and Saturday morning at 11am.

Fit4Life continues on Mondays at 6pm in Carrickfinn and circuits in Mullaghduff Hall on Wednesdays at 6pm. New members welcome.

Adult training continues at the Industrial Estate, Gweedore on Wednesdays at 7pm.

New members always welcome with great turnouts every week.

If you wish to update your registration with the club for 2014 or join the club for the first time you can get a registration form from any committee member or they are available to download from our Facebook page.

Registrations are now due and membership for 2014 is only 20 euro.

There will be a table quiz in Caisleain Oir on Wednesday 19th February and all club members are asked to support.
