Donegal Island fishermen are holding a meeting on Arranmore Island this Sunday the 23rd of February at 12.30 pm in the Islands community center.
Donegal Islands Spokesman Jerry Early believes that the time is right to form a committee which can represent the islands at regional and National level, particularly in the inshore sector.
Jerry commented, “We have many challenging issues facing this sector and we plan to meet them head on.
Early has urged all Donegal Island fishermen to attend the meeting to put their best foot forward in an attempt to alleviate the challenges that are crippling the sector and threatening the very existence.
Jerry Early and his fellow Islanders just a few weeks back showed the power of people standing together and forming a committee when news broke that the HSE planned to remove the public health nurse from the Island.
The successful campaign led to the HSE to withdraw their plan to remove the public health nurse from the Island.
Jerry is hoping the meeting on Sunday can have a similar effect.
