Castlefinn native Paddy Foy has retired as manager of the Irish Defence Forces after five successful years at the helm.
Foy is pictured above with Ireland manager Martin O Neill and his assistant Roy Keane at F.A.I headquarters in Dublin recently.
The Irish management duo presented International caps to Defence Force Players who played in a recent tournament held in Galway, in which Germany and Holland were part of a difficult group.
Ireland performed heroically throughout the tournament, but unfortunately lost out on goal difference to go through to the World cup Military games.
This was Foy’s last official engagement as Head Coach of the team as he has now retired from the Defence Forces after 28 years service.
Paddy told Donegal Daily, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in this post, and will miss working with all the lads and staff who where superb during my five years with them.
“Up until recently, I’ve been working at Finn Harps FC for a number of years and made the short list during the last managerial selection process.
“I am doing a course in sports exercise at the minute until October, and hopefully I can get back into the soccer scene again after that.
“I love the game, and I’m extremely passionate about it, and I’m looking forward to my next challenge.
