Second Sunday of Lent

AFTERNOON OF THANKSGIVING AND PRAYER

This afternoon, (Sunday 24th February), we will celebrate 25 years of JESUS truly present in the Blessed Sacrament in St. Pius X Adoration Chapel.

Fr. Thaddeus Doyle (Curate’s Diary) will lead us in our afternoon of Thanksgiving and Prayer for Healing in the Cathedral.

 

Our afternoon will commence at 2.30 pm with an Introduction followed by Exposition/Holy Hour. From 4.30 pm to 6 pm we will have a Eucharistic Healing Service. Mass will be celebrated at 6.30 pm followed by the laying on of hands for healing.

 

SCOIL NAOMH FIACHRA, ILLISTRIN CONFIRMATION

 

Please remember in your prayers all the girls and boys from Scoil Naomh Fiachra, Illistrin, their parents, families and teachers who will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday 28th February at 5 pm.

 

CONFESSIONS for the Children, their families and friends will take place on Tuesday 26th February at 8 pm.

 

Trocaire Boxes are available at the back of the Cathedral. Please give what you can this Lent.

DON’T GIVE UP – TAKE UP! Why not take something up for Lent? There will be Reflection and Meditation on the scripture readings for the Sunday’s in Lent after 7.30 pm Mass each Monday evening. These sessions will last about half an hour and will be held in the Conference Room. Come and deepen your relationship with the Lord this Lent through His Word in Scripture.

 

CONVERSATIONS ABOUT GOD, FAITH AND FAMILY LIFE – For parents/guardians who want to explore their Catholic faith and their own role as the first teachers of faith for their children will take place in The Colmcille Rooms (above Veritas) on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 pm to 9 pm.

 

TASTE THE NEW WINE: REDISCOVERING VATICAN II – An evening of input, conversation and reflection with Bishop Donal Murray author of ‘Keeping Open the Door of Faith: the legacy of Vatican II’ on how the Second Vatican Council has shaped our understanding and experience of Church, will be held in the Abbey Hotel, Donegal Town on Monday 25th February at 7.30 pm. A SOCIAL for the ‘Young at Heart Club’ will be held in the Social Centre, Oliver Plunkett Road on Tuesday 26th February at 8 pm. This Social will be hosted by the Celtic Supporters Club.

 

LETTERKENNY ACTIVE RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION will have a meal in ARENA 7 on Wednesday 27th February at 4.45 pm.

 

The A.G.M. of LETTERKENNY PIONEER ASSOCIATION will take place on Thursday 28th February at 8.10 pm in Loreto Convent, Letterkenny. As this is our A.G.M., we would encourage as many Pioneers as possible to attend to help us to maintain a healthy and vibrant Centre. There will be a member of the Association outside the Sacristy after Masses next Weekend 2nd and 3rd March, to take the names of anyone interested in joining or finding out more about the Pioneers. A TABLE QUIZ will be held in Arena 7 on Thursday 28th February at 9 pm in aid of the Loreto Convent Parents Association. Everyone welcome.

 

REALT ULADH 2013 ~ Competitions through the medium of Irish for pre-school and primary school children will be held in the LYIT on Saturday 2nd March. Categories include: Poetry Recitation, Reading, Presentation, Dialogue, Drama, Writing and Singing. Closing date is Saturday 2nd February.
