Sadness after passing of McCafferty’s Dungloe stalwart, Micheal Roarty

There is deep sadness in west Donegal after the passing of well-liked Micheal Roarty.

He was known by many as a fixture at McCafferty’s Bar and Restaurant in Dungloe for more than half a decade.

Following the news of his passing, McCafferty’s Dungloe announced that they would be closed until after Micheal’s funeral, as a mark of respect.

On social media earlier today, McCafferty’s paid tribute to the “heart and soul” of their business.

“It is with a heavy heart that we learnt yesterday of the sad passing of our dear colleague & friend, Micheal Roarty,” McCafferty’s said.

“We are totally devastated and heartbroken at the loss of Micheal. He was the heart & soul of McCafferty’s Dungloe over the past 6 years.”

“Micheal had only returned to us in February last, having spent the last two years working in our sister venue, McCafferty’s JVC in Dubai.”

“Micheal always had a warm welcome for everyone as soon as they came through the door. He really was brilliant at what he did and had a great way about him . He was full of fun and craic and we will miss him sorely.”

“We offer our sincerest condolences to his mother, Sheila, his sister, Kathleen & brother, Charlie. His nieces & nephew’s, neighbours & friends at this most difficult time.”

“Micheal, you simply were The Best! Ar dheis De go raibh a anam”

“We will remain closed until after Micheal’s funeral, as a mark of respect.”
