In 2011, The Irish Youth Choir realised a long held ambition to create a smaller chamber choir of 24 singers, selected from within its ranks of 100 members.
This amazing choir will be performing in Letterkenny at the Conwal Parish church on Saturday March the 9th at 9,30pm. Tickets for the concert are available from the An Grianan Theatre. Prices are €12 for adults and €8 for children.
Singing some of the most dazzling repertoire from around the world, these young singers offer a new perspective on choral music.
Following sell out concerts in Dublin, Cork and Kilkenny in 2012, the Irish Youth Chamber Choir is delighted to reprise Soundworlds.
The programme is a tribute to all free-thinkers, free-imaginers and free-singers, past and present, featuring pieces by Gabrieli, Eric Whitacre and Arvo Pärt, alongside a rare performance of Come Sleep by Brian Boydell.
Innovative programming and interpretation underpin a desire to stage vibrant concert performances which are genuinely engaging and relevant to people of all ages.
The emotional impact of the music and of these extraordinary young voices results in capacity audiences and frequent standing ovations.
Artistic Director Greg Beardsell will also be available to local schools for a choral workshop programme which will run alongside the tour.
The Irish Youth Choir is a project of the Association of Irish Choirs, which is based at University of Limerick.
