A MAN wanted by English police in relation attacks on a young girl is touring Donegal with a caravan in tow.
Detectives in Bolton, Lancashire, have made contact with Gardai in a bid to find this man.
He is 46-year-old Martin Begley and he is wanted by police after a girl was sexually assaulted a number of times between January 2007 and November 2008.
The girl was between the ages of 12 and 14 at the time of the assaults, Bolton police have confirmed.
“He was parked up in St Johnston and was about here until last weekend,” one resident told Donegal Daily last night.
This was backed up by three other local people who have seen Begley in the past few weeks.
It’s understood he has connections in the area – but he is also known to people in Gaoth Dobhair and Letterkenny.
Detectives in Bolton took the highly unusual decision to release Begley’s details and photograph – and details of the offences they say they want to question him about.
“I saw him in St Johnston for several weeks,” said another local woman.
“He has a caravan hooked up to his car. He moved on last weekend.”
It’s thought he is still in Donegal touring in his caravan but Bolton police are hoping Gardai can detain him so they can extradite him to Lancashire.
Anyone with information should contact their local Garda station.
