Gardai have smashed a prostitution ring in Letterkenny.
A total of six people appeared in court today charged in connection with the sex ring which was operating at three different flats at Riverside Apartments on Pearse Road.
The accused, who were in their 20s and 30s, are all from Romania.
All were charged with either managing, assisting or acting in the running of a brothel for the purpose of habitual prostitution.
It was revealed in court that Gardai had monitored the apartments at Riverside, Pearse Road for some time.

When they raided the apartments they found a woman in a state of undress and a customer in one of the apartments.
Another of the prostitutes was hiding in a wardrobe.
Detective Sergeant Mick Carroll said all four women had taken out adverts for sexual services on the Escort Ireland website and three phones used on these adverts were seized.
He said the women had been in Ireland for a number of months working as prostitutes.
Three had been sending money home to their families while one of the women had €5, 890 in cash which came from offering her services as a prostitute for the past five months.

Before the court were Andrea Mihaela Hotoleane, aged 28 from 20 Riverside Apartments, Florea Mihaela, aged 34 from 20 Riverside Apartments, Maria Vaduva, aged 21 from 18 Riverside Apartments, Mihaela Niculae, aged 36 from 18 Riverside Apartments.
All were charged with prostitution.
Representing all four women, solicitor Patsy Gallagher said they were all vulnerable ladies whose circumstances had brought them here.
He revealed that two of them had young children at home but had traveled to Ireland to make money so they could send back cash to their families.
Another one of the women was a qualified nurse but the temptation of making a large amount of money brought her to Ireland.
“The fact that €15,000 would build a lovely home back in Romania, a very poor part of the country where they come from, speaks for itself,” said Mr Gallagher.

He added that the women were not under huge force from other people when in Ireland and were simply trying to make as much money as possible.
He revealed that with the arrival of the Donegal International Rally into Letterkenny this weekend, they were hoping to be kept very busy.
“Of course the weekend that is in it they were hoping to have a bumper weekend with the rally coming up but they are hoping to get out of town as quickly as possible.”
However, Garda Inspector Goretti Sheridan told the court that the women had been overheard at Letterkenny Garda station saying they would be “back working tonight” if they got out.
Judge Paul Kelly said he was initially unsure what to do with the women in case he did release them and they entered into prostitution again.
“Are they planning to recoup their losses over the weekend,” he asked.
He then asked solicitor Patsy Gallagher if the women were “willing to get out of Dodge?”
Mr Gallagher asked the Judge if there was a time limit on the women’s exit form the country and Judge Kelly replied “the sooner the better.”
After considering the matter for some time, he ordered that €1,200 of the seized cash be divided amongst the women to buy one-way airline tickets back to Romania.
The women held each other’s hands and wept as the Judge gave his direction.
“They are getting a very good deal,” added Judge Kelly.
Two other people, a husband and wife, also appeared before the court on charges of running or assisting in the running of a brothel.
Ionel Bojaoga, 38, and Camelia Ungurianu, aged 35 were in the apartments when they were raided by Gardai.
Detective Niall Boyle said he was objecting to bail as he believed there was a flight risk and that witnesses may be interfered with.
Judge Kelly released Ms Ungurianu on her own bond of €250 but remanded Mr Bogaoga in custody to Harristown Court on Friday next, June 27th.
